A document will be considered “acceptably certified” when all of the following criteria are met:

  1. The stated profession of the certifier is one of the following:

    • Lawyer

    • Chartered Accountant

    • Justice of the Peace

    • Notary Public

    • Sworn Member of the Police

    • Registered Medical Doctor

    • Registered Teacher

    • Minister of Religion

  2. The date of certification is within your Certification Period (see Verification settings).

  3. Any date on the document stated as the “expiry date” has not passed.

  4. The certifier’s last name does not match that of an individual in respect of whom individual verification (see Individual verification) is being conducted in the same case.

  5. The certifier’s name and signature are present. 

The certification wording is substantially similar to the following: “I hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of the original document which I have sighted, and it represents a true likeness of the individual.”
